Vibro-acoustography for modal analysis of arterial vessels
نویسندگان
چکیده
In order to apply Vibro-acoustography for imaging of arteries, a theoretical model of vibro-acoustics of thick arterial vessels is presented. The arterial wall is modeled with the first order shear deformation theory. The fluids outside and inside the artery are modeled with acoustic wave theory. The coupled vibration of arterial tubes is analyzed with the wave propagation approach. The experiments were carried out on a silicone rubber tube in a water tank with a Vibro-acoustography system. This system uses the radiation force of ultrasound to vibrate the tube at low frequency and records the resulting response by a laser vibrometer. Both the excitation and measurement are remote and noncontact. The theory has been evaluated against those available in the literature. The measured fundamental frequency is in good agreement with the present theory.

Application of image restoration algorithms in vibro-acoustography images
Vibro-acoustography (VA) is an imaging modality that produces an image of the mechanical response of an object to a localized dynamic radiation force of an ultrasound field. This technique has been studied and used in clinical applications as to image calcification in breast tissue and arteries. This paper presents the application of restoration algorithms to VA images.

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to evaluate the utility of a noninvasive ultrasound-based method, vibro-acoustography (VA), for thyroid imaging and determine the feasibility and challenges of VA in detecting nodules in thyroid. METHODS Our study included two parts. First, in an in vitro study, experiments were conducted on a number of excised thyroid specimens randomly taken from aut...
متن کاملCombined Vibro-acoustography (VA) imaging and Shearwave Dispersion Ultrasonic Vibrometry (SDUV) for measuring prostate viscoelastic material properties – An in vitro feasibility study
Improved methods for prostate guided-biopsy are required to effectively guide needle biopsy to the suspected site. In addition, tissue stiffness measurement would help identifying a suspected site to perform biopsy because stiffness has been shown to correlate with pathology. More importantly, early detection of prostate cancer may guide therapy and eliminate invasive procedures. Vibro-acoustog...
متن کاملBone Imaging Using Tone-Burst Vibro-acoustography and Pulse-Echo Ultrasound: A Qualitative Comparative Study
This paper presents a comparative study between tone-burst (TB) vibro-acoustography (VA) and pulseecho ultrasound imaging on bone tissue. Vibroacoustography is an innovative technique that uses the dynamic (oscillatory) radiation force of ultrasound to remotely vibrate an object or a part of it. In response to this force, an acoustic signal is emitted which is related to the object’s mechanical...

Vibro-acoustography is a method of imaging and measurement that uses ultrasound to produce radiation force to vibrate objects. The radiation force is concentrated laterally by focusing the ultrasound beam. The radiation force is limited in depth by intersecting two beams at different frequencies so that there is interference between the beams at the difference frequency only at their intersecti...
